On February 24, 2020, US President Donald Trump arrived in Ahmedabad for the first leg of his maiden India trip. Trump is accompanied by the First Lady Melania Trump, daughter Ivanka, son-in-law Jared Kushner and top brass of his administration.

After landing in Ahmedabad, Trump visited Mahatma Gandhi's Sabarmati Ashram. During the visit, Trump and Melania also tried their hands on the charkha. Before leaving, Trump wrote a message in the visitors' book of the Ashram."To my great friend Prime Minister Modi - Thank you for this wonderful visit," wrote Trump and signed the message. It was also signed by Melania.

After the roadshow, both the leaders reached the newly-built world's largest cricket stadium in Motera and addressed a gathering of over one lakh people at the Namaste Trump event.

Primer Minister Modi took the stage and introduced President Trump by the following words; "India-US relations are no longer just another partnership. It is a far greater and closer relationship. One is 'land of the free' the other believes the world is one family. One feels proud of 'Statue of Liberty' the other feels proud of 'Statue of Unity'."

During his speech, Trump said,  "Everybody loves PM Modi, but let me tell you he is very tough. He started as a chaiwala and now he is leading the largest democracy in the world. It shows Indians can go anywhere with hard work," He further added,  "PM Modi you are not just the pride of Gujarat, you are living proof that with hard work and devotion, Indians can accomplish anything at all, anything they want. The Prime Minister is a moving story of an incredible rise."

Later, At 3:00 pm (local time), President Trump and First Lady left for Agra to witness the sunset view of the iconic Taj Mahal. Prime Minister left for Ahmedabad airport to return to Delhi after the event at Motera Stadium. He didn't accompany President Trump and First Lady Melania Trump to Agra.
