On December 10, 2019, Vietnamese startup Bamboo Airways took the delivery of a Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner, from the Boeing delivery center in South Carolina. Its first wide-body aircraft for the airline.
According to the Bamboo Airways press release, “Bamboo Airways officially receives the first Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner from the Boeing South Carolina Delivery Center in the USA. The event has the participation of Representative of Boeing, Mr. Lane Ballard, and Mr. Dang Tat Thang – Standing Vice Chairman of Bamboo Airways.”
Immediately after joining Bamboo Airways' fleet, this Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner will be operated on domestic routes such as Hanoi - Ho Chi Minh City and Hanoi/ Ho Chi Minh City - Da Nang. In the coming time, this will be the main aircraft to exploit Bamboo Airways' medium and long routes to Asia, Europe, and America, connecting Vietnam with countries such as Japan and South Korea, Czech Republic, Australia or the USA, etc.
About Bamboo Airways
The airline, owned by property and leisure company FLC Group, began flying in January 2019. It aims to expand its fleet to 30 by the end of the first quarter of 2020. Currently, it flies to major cities in Vietnam and destinations in Taiwan and South Korea.
