Sharjah National Oil Corporation & Heriot-Watt University Enter MoU to Collaborate on Exploration and Production Research

April 3, 2018 (Sharjah): The Sharjah National Oil Corporation (SNOC) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Heriot-Watt University, Dubai Campus for collaboration in Oil & Gas Research and supporting of educational activities. The agreement aims to exchange knowledge between Heriot-Watt’s Professors and students, and SNOC’s E&P experts to provide graduate and Ph.D. internship opportunities as well as the development of staff among other areas of collaboration focused on the development of talent in the region.

Masoud Al Hamadi, E&P Manager: SNOC which currently operates mature gas fields and production facilities is focused on maintaining the base production along with actively pursuing opportunities to grow the Oil and Gas potential in Sharjah. The MOU with Heriot-Watt will support in the development of talent and research in the delivery of SNOC’s E&P vision to excel in all technical disciplines such as Geoscience, Petroleum Engineering and R&D utilizing massive legacy and newly acquired data in the Emirate of Sharjah.

About SNOC

In 2010, Sharjah Government announced the establishment of a state-owned national oil company "SNOC" to take ownership and operate the Sajaa Asset concession. The Sajaa Asset was established in the Emirate of Sharjah in 1978 by Sharjah government and British Petroleum BP (Previously AMOCO) as one of the UAE‘s largest producers and sellers of Natural gas, condensate, and LPG. It operates 3 gas fields and has the main gas production and processing facility, about 30 km outside the city of Sharjah, providing a key energy lifeline to the people of the Northern Emirates.
