By normalizing extramarital births and affording legal recognition to non-conventional family structures, South Korea could boost its fertility rates while alleviating some of the burdens associated with traditional family norms.

Policymakers must prioritize evidence-based solutions while eschewing the temptation to scapegoat feminism or cling to antiquated social paradigms that no longer serve the nation's best interests. Only through a concerted and collaborative endeavour can South Korea navigate the treacherous waters of its demographic tumult and forge a path towards a more sustainable and vibrant future.
