Google Adopts 'Passkeys' as Default For All

To bolster online security, Google has taken a significant stride by setting passkeys as the default means for authenticating personal accounts. The tech industry leader's recent endeavor aims to transform how we gain access to our online accounts, offering a more secure and user-friendly option instead of conventional passwords.

Google asserts that passkeys are 40% faster than traditional passwords and employ robust cryptographic techniques that significantly enhance security. They are also highly resistant to phishing attempts, offering robust protection against cyber threats.
Passkeys have been gradually integrated into Google services over the course of the year. This innovative authentication method allows Users to seamlessly sign in to Google platforms like YouTube, Search, and Maps. Furthermore, other online services and platforms, including Uber and eBay, have also embraced passkeys. Google has also revealed that WhatsApp compatibility will be coming soon, making this technology increasingly prevalent across a wide array of online applications.
The process is straightforward for users looking to enable passkeys for their Google accounts. Follow these steps:
1. Visit myaccount.google.com.2. Click on "Security."3. Under the "How you sign into Google" section, select "Passkeys."4. Click the "Use passkeys" button.5. At the bottom of the page, click "Create a Passkey."6. Verify the information associated with your new passkey.
