With over 30 years of experience in the oil and gas sector, Steve Kelly joined a panel of key stakeholders to share his deep knowledge of the industry to an audience of 100 GUtech Students spanning across various departments such as Engineering, Geosciences, Business, Urban Development & Planning, and Computer Science. The seminar served as an ideal platform for students, professors, government officials, and representatives from the oil and gas industry, to discuss opportunities related to post-graduate studies and subsequent career paths.

A Survey conducted in October 2016 by Gulf Intelligence with 200 Oman-based energy executives resulted in 61% of respondents agreeing that the gap between Oman’s Industry and Academia to build an aligned 21st century R&D ecosystem is wide but bridgeable in 3-5 years. The Student Seminar dialogues is a key component in closing this gap.

Occidental Oman supports such programs and initiatives as it believes in the importance of education to achieve sustainable development and that a well-educated and committed population is integral to a successful economy and a developed nation.
